DESCRIPTION:Have you always wanted to learn how to sew\, but felt unsure where to start—or what even to make first? Our three-week Beginner Sewing Series with Alex Mannle is a gentle\, confidence-building introduction to using a sewing machine\, simple patterns\, and finishing three practical projects you’ll actually use: a scrunchie\, a roll-up pillowcase\, and a flat-bottom zipper pouch. No prior experience is required—just curiosity\, a willingness to learn\, and a couple of Saturday afternoons set aside for yourself \nIt runs on Saturday\, April 4\, April 11\, and April 18 from 12 pm to 2 pm. \nIn Class Three\, you’ll meet some of the most useful presser feet and learn what each one does\, so your machine starts to feel like a flexible tool instead of a mystery. You’ll put those new skills into practice by sewing a flat-bottom zipper pouch—perfect for notions\, pens\, makeup\, or anything small you want to corral—so you leave with both a finished project and a new comfort level with zippers and machine accessories. \nRegistration Note: In this series\, students will be working with sewing machines\, scissors\, pins\, irons\, and other sharp or hot tools\, so participants must be old enough to use them safely and responsibly; please use your best judgment when registering yourself or a young person. \nThis is a three-class series. SUMMARY:Sew for Good: Dress a Girl Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special sewing session that blends creativity with compassion. \nIn this small-group workshop\, we’ll be making simple\, beautiful sundresses that will be sent to girls in need through the Dress a Girl Around the World program. All materials will be pre-cut and ready to sew\, and local sewist Kerry Robertson will guide you step-by-step\, making this class welcoming for all skill levels. \nKerry has been sewing for this mission since 2013\, with her dresses reaching girls across the globe\, from South Dakota to Senegal\, Haiti\, Kenya\, and beyond. Each dress does more than clothe a girl; it helps signal care\, dignity\, and protection for the child who receives it. \nThis class is free\, with just four spots available to keep it personal and hands-on. We invite each participant to bring a new\, unopened package of girls’ underwear (sizes 2 to 10/12)\, which will be tucked into the pocket of the finished dress as a thoughtful and practical addition. \nCome sew\, connect\, and be part of something meaningful. \nSaturday\, March 25\n12:00–2:00 PM\nFree
